The community should look forward to the Olympics, but that won`t work if this government is going to bulldoze schools and parks.

Spending more than A$2. 5 billion demolishing a public school and park just to build a large stadium for a one-off event is a huge waste of public money, South Brisbane government member Amy McMahon said.

The federal government should invest A$2. 5 billion in affordable housing, health and education rather than a plan to demolish a local school and park for an additional 8, 000 seats and a two-week sporting event.

Today`s demonstration sends a strong message to the federal government that the only people who want to continue this stupid, destructive A$2. 5 billion Gabba plan are members of the state government, Griffith City Councilman Max Chandler-Mather said.
